Achieving cultural change in the construction industry – Master Builders Association of SA Inc
The Master Builders Association is working to change the construction industry culture and improve employer practices by developing comprehensive job dictionaries. Most onsite labour in the industry is provided by trade contractors, who are typically small employers. By introducing these job dictionaries, the project provides appropriate tools that support a safe and early return to work.
Moving mindfully towards health – Mindful Movement Physiotherapy
This program uses movement and meditation techniques to assist injured workers cultivate physical and psychological wellbeing. The program uses the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program owned by the University of Massachusetts and is combined with physiotherapist-directed physical conditioning. This provides an avenue for early intervention with injured workers who have been identified as at risk for perpetuating long term injury. Providers working within the WorkCover system will refer suitable clients to the program.
Re-invent yourself – life after injury – MSVS Consultancy
This program engages injured workers from all walks of life; assisting them to ‘re-invent’ themselves through rebuilding self-esteem, and developing skills to reshape their lives. The program focuses on acceptance of physical limitations and offers the opportunity to hear real-life experiences from injured worker guest speakers.
Back on track – Employment Accelerators
Employment Accelerators worked with injured workers and assessed each individual’s functional ability and personal factors to identify barriers. This program had an alternative focus using a range of occupational strategies with the goal of returning the injured worker to optimal function and to the workforce and/or the community.
