The South Australian Government recently passed some legislative amendments to the WorkCover Scheme.
From 1 January 2009, employers who employ more than 30 workers are required to appoint trained rehabilitation and return to work coordinators in accordance with Section 28D of the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1986.
Employers who fit this criteria will initially be notified by mail in mid-December 2008 or through the employer registration process.
Approximately 3000 employers will be required to train and appoint a coordinator by 1 July 2009.
