A specialist provider
Workers compensation is the core business of Employers Mutual.
Employers Mutual was established in 1910 and has been handling workers compensation continuously since that time.
It currently operates claims management services in the New South Wales market, totalling more than the current South Australian market. This is made up of claims under management on behalf of WorkCover NSW, the New South Wales Treasury Managed Fund (the New South Wales equivalent of South Australia's Crown exempts) and Coal Services.
In 1987, Employers Mutual commenced providing workers compensation management services for WorkCover NSW. It consistently has been ranked the number one performer by WorkCover NSW, outperforming the scheme average for seven successive years.
It has sustained this performance during a period of strong growth. (Reflecting its performance, in recent years the levy under management has grown by an average of 25 per cent each year).
It also has played specific contracted roles in helping improve claims management for the Coal Mines Services Insurance fund which is owned by the Minerals Council and the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) in NSW.
Establishing operations in South Australia
Employers Mutual recruited a substantial number of new staff for its South Australian operations. Anthony Fleetwood is the Chief Executive Officer for SA. Mr Fleetwood's previous position held was as Employers Mutual's Chief Operating Officer for NSW and Company Secretary.
