Employing workers with a disability

Businesses all over Australia are benefiting and utilising skills of people with a disability by providing employment opportunities. As an employer you can join them today and reap the rewards.

Haigh's Chocolates (specialist chocolate manufacturer)

Haigh's Chocolates has employed three workers with disabilities (10 per cent of the company's workforce). One worker is deaf, one has a physical disability and one has an intellectual disability. The company has a goal of 25 per cent of their workforce comprising people with disabilities.

Alister Haigh, Managing Director, made the following observations:

"The workers with disabilities who we have employed are all conscious of making sure they do the right thing and know how to do the job properly before trying to do it themselves. They are productive because they'll stick with a job until they finish it. Members of the public can view our operations and we constantly get positive comments about employing people with disabilities."
